That's why I've compiled a list of meat products that are good to limit, especially after the age of 50.
1. Smoked meats and sausages – the hidden chemistry on the plate
This includes sausages, bacon, salami, and all kinds of processed meat products.
What is the problem:
- Nitrites – additives that give the appetizing pink color, but in the body they can turn into harmful compounds that burden the liver
- Excessive salt – 100 g of sausage often contains almost the daily dose of salt, which affects blood pressure and fluid retention
A better alternative:
Bake a piece of meat in the oven with spices – tastier, cleaner and without unnecessary additives.
2. Fatty red meat – a burden on the liver
Pork neck, fatty lamb, heavily greased beef.
What is the problem:
- Saturated fats – the liver has difficulty processing them
- Over time, they can accumulate in the organ itself, leading to fatty liver.
