Just as Judge Catherine was about to speak, the courtroom doors opened with a loud creak. Every head turned to see Mrs. Henderson walking in, holding the hand of a small girl with brown hair and green eyes. It was Lily. The little girl looked around the big courtroom with wide eyes, searching for her father. When she saw Robert sitting at the front table, her face lit up with joy and she started to run toward him.

The bailiff moved to stop her, but Judge Catherine held up her hand.
“Let her go to her father,”
she said quietly.
Lily ran to Robert and jumped into his arms. He held her tight, tears streaming down his face as he whispered,
“I’m so sorry, baby girl. Daddy made a big mistake.”
Lily pulled back and looked at her father with those bright green eyes.
“It’s okay, Daddy. I know you were trying to help me feel better.”
