Genetic predisposition
Some people simply have more superficial veins. This is not a disease, but an individual characteristic.
When can visible veins signal a problem?
In some cases, clearly defined or prominent veins may be associated with health conditions:
Chronic venous insufficiency
If the veins are painful, swollen, or accompanied by heaviness in the limbs, this may be a sign of a problem with venous blood return.
Varicose veins
They usually appear on the legs, but can affect other areas as well. The veins appear twisted, swollen, and sometimes painful.
Dehydration
Insufficient water intake can temporarily make veins more visible.
Hormonal changes
Pregnancy, menopause, or hormone therapies can affect the condition of the veins.
How do you know if there is cause for concern?
Pay attention to the following symptoms:
-
Pain or throbbing in the veins
-
Swelling of the hands or feet
-
Change in skin color
-
Redness or warmth in a specific area
If you have any of these signs, it is a good idea to consult a specialist - a vascular surgeon or angiologist.
