After thoroughly washing and drying the can, it becomes the perfect size for small plants. Succulents, tiny cacti, herbs, or seedlings fit beautifully inside. You can leave the metal exposed for an industrial look or decorate the exterior with twine, fabric, paint, or even wooden clothespins glued around the sides.
If you plan to use them for plants long term, consider adding a small drainage hole at the bottom (if one isn’t already present) to prevent water buildup.
Candle Holders
Tuna cans are heat-resistant and compact, making them ideal as simple candle bases. You can place a tea light directly inside or pour melted wax into the can to create a homemade candle. Decorate the outside for seasonal themes — rustic twine for fall, painted patterns for holidays, or minimalist metallic finishes for modern décor.
Always place candles on a stable surface and never leave them unattended.
Kitchen Molds
Because of their uniform size and round shape, tuna cans can double as molds for single-portion desserts. They work well for mini cheesecakes, layered salads, rice molds, cornbread rounds, or individual baked dishes. Just make sure the can is completely cleaned, label removed, and edges smooth before using.
