S (Speech): Check if he can speak clearly. Slurred or incomprehensible speech, as well as difficulty understanding words, are typical symptoms.
T (Time): Call 112 immediately! Time is the most important factor – every minute without medical attention increases the risk of irreversible damage.
🧠 "Mini-stroke" (TIA) – the warning that should not be ignored
A transient ischemic attack (TIA), also known as a mini-stroke , occurs when blood flow to the brain is temporarily interrupted. The symptoms are similar to those of a real stroke, but usually resolve within minutes or hours. However, a TIA should never be underestimated —it is often a sign that a more serious stroke may be coming.
A study published in The Journal of Headache and Pain (2020) shows that about 15% of 550 adults who had experienced an ischemic stroke had a so-called sentinel headache in the days before it – pain that begins up to seven days before the stroke and continues until it occurs.
